The Word of Faith

An amazing truth has just dawned on my spirit as I study from the scriptures tonight and I am compelled to write. In the New King James version of the Bible, the book of Acts, chapter 26, verses 17-18 states;

“….I send thee, to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light”

Let us take a closer look at this statement. Paul is saying that God asked him to undertake the task of opening the eyes of the Gentiles for a purpose. The opening of the blind eyes would be accomplished through the teaching of the Christ, the anointed one and His anointing. The purpose would be to turn the hearers of the message from darkness to light.

Darkness is the ‘absence’ of light. Light could effectively be ‘absent’ either because there really is no light or because the eyes are shut or blind. If we had our eyes open in a dark room, it would still be dark. Jesus says here that if their eyes are opened, they will turn from darkness to light. This means that the darkness referred to here is a result of blinded eyes and not the absence of light.

This is remarkable because we have heard people say ‘God works in mysterious ways’. That sounds like a God who is hidden, sneaking up behind people to do stuff! The only mysterious dude is the devil! It takes a mysterious man to kill his own kids and that is exactly what the devil does. But the invisible things of God from the creation of the world, including His eternal power and divinity, are clearly seen, being manifested by things that are all around us (Romans 1:20). His light is not hidden from the world of men. He is the true light that lights every man that comes into the world (John 1:9). His light is not hidden. God is not hidden. Do not say in your heart, ‘who will go to bring him down from heaven or up from hell’, because the revelation of the Living Word is near you, in your heart and in your mouth (Romans 10: 6-7). God is available everywhere. His light is shining everywhere. The revelations of God are available to all who will see.

But why are some not seeing it? If our gospel is hidden, it is hidden to those that are lost, those who have the eyes of their minds blinded by the wicked one so that they cannot see the light of Christ which is always shining anyway (2 Corinthians 4:3). However, when it shall turn to Christ (when there is the preaching of the gospel of the anointed one), the veil of covering causing blindness shall be removed. Then there shall not be need for coercion because once a human spirit becomes unblinded, it will see light, even if it is still in the midst of darkness. And like any phototropic plant, the human spirit will migrate in the direction of light. The unhidden light is now clearly seen by the unblinded eyes. The light of revelation is a potent attractant of the human spirit.

Man will move in the direction of his maker once he can see Him. Until we see Him, we abide in our struggles. Until we perceive Him, we remain in the power of darkness. However, the impotence of darkness is clearly manifest when the light shines. The light will shine and the darkness will not comprehend it enough to apprehend it! Men walk effortlessly away and victoriously toward a light they now see, while impotent darkness stares helplessly, wishing it could hold them down just for a little longer!

Oh the word of faith! It is this word that paralyses the instruments of darkness. In this word is life and the life is the light of men. This faith that strips away veils of darkness is found in the Living Son of God and causes men to know Him anew. Abraham might have never known Jehovah Jireh if his eyes were not opened to see that God had provided himself a lamb. Gideon would have never known Jehovah Shalom if his eyes were not opened to see the Shekinah glory!

May the God of heaven open our eyes everyday to see Him in ever-new dimensions and may the new visions of Christ upon which our spirits lay hold continually break every thing of darkness about us until we come to know Him that is from the beginning (1 John 13a and 14a)!
