WHERE DEEP SHADOWS FALL

Job 12:22
“He reveals the deep things of darkness and brings deep shadows into the light.” (NIV)


Lord, I need You to shine Your Light
Shine it within their hearts today.
Lord, wherever deep shadows fall
Bring them into the Light I pray.

Expose the things of darkness
That still cling within their minds.
Help them know You will not stop
Not until all these things You find.

Bring healing to their minds and souls,
Their hearts seek You in need.
You know the pain the victims feel
When evil rides his ugly steed.

Give them hope found only in You
A hope that You want to share.
Light their way on darkened paths
When they feel that no one cares.

Let them feel Life’s joy within
A joy they once did know.
Increase their joy within Your Light
Abundantly let it flow!

Fill the gaps that need Your strength
To stand the test of time.
Let them grasp Your loving hand
Let them know that “thou art mine”.

Freedom comes through Christ alone
Bind up their broken hearts.
Satan flees from Your glory bright
Help them trust You’ll ne’er depart.


We recently made a trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina and drove all through this glorious mountain range. Along the Blue Ridge Parkway we encountered several tunnels under various parts of the mountains. Some were straight, others were curved, and sometimes there were two tunnels in a row.
It was pitch black inside those tunnels even in the middle of the day! We had to turn on our headlights each time we entered one in order to see the road ahead of us! The closer and closer we got to the end of the tunnels the brighter things looked because of the daytime sunshine.
That’s exactly what this poem reflects…God shedding His Light (or Truth) on hurting hearts and minds. He finds the deepest, most painful parts, those “deep shadows”, and starts dispelling the darkness of secrecy, shame, depression, and sadness that manifest themselves in those who have been abused in any fashion.
2 Samuel 22:29 says “You are my Lamp, O Lord; the Lord turns my darkness into light.” (NIV)
If you are struggling with past hurts, just think of those tunnels as your painful places. And think of Jesus as your Headlight….He’ll make the way seem brighter, and He will surely lead you out of that tunnel!
