Death Knocking on our Door

While eating breakfast my wife collapsed.
Her eyes were fixed on the roof. I called
her name. No response. I gently lowered
her to the floor. The next moment all the
food she ate just returned. I had to run for
a bucket, and helped her.
She couldn’t stand up. I took one of our
small carpets maneuvered her on it, and
pulled her to the bedroom, helped her in
bed. I then phoned the doctor and he
recommends some pain killers. So I
went to the chemist.

Back home she took the pills.

Next moment she grabs her head and
fell back on the pillow. And stops
breathing. I waited on her to draw in
air. Nothing. Wait some more.
Calling her name. Nothing.

What now. Fear. Is she dying. No.
It can’t be. C.P.R. What must I do?
Where do I start? Her heart? No.
She needs air. So I blew into her mouth.
The air returns through her nose. Close
her nose.I blew again. Yes. Again.
And again. Can’t get enough air in.
Her tongue is obstructing the airflow.

Practicing on a doll I remembered that
the head must be pushed back to open
the airway. Lift her shoulders. Helped
a little bit. The tongue is still in
the way. I stopped calling her name.
I start calling on Jesus to help.

My legs start aching. Will she die?
What will I tell our daughters? Blow.
“Jesus help.” Blow. “Jesus help.”
Battling to get the airway open.

Eventually I pulled her head so that
it is hanging down the side of the bed.
Success. Can get the air in now. Blow.
Get hold of the cell phone. Blow. Dial
my daughter. “Ma is not breathing”.
Get an ambulance or a doctor.” Blow.

How long must I carry on. It feels
like hours. Hey, What’s that? A small
uurgg. “Can’t stop now.” Blow. “Jesus help.”
Another five times. A bigger uurggg.
“She’s still alive.” Another three blows
The next moment she starts breathing slowly.

Outside a car is hooting. It’s my daughter.
She came to help. It’s 8h35. Twenty minutes
fighting for my wife. Victory over death.

She’s alive. Had a brain operation.
Still a little weak but fighting the
battle with JESUS.

Jesus is The Only Answer.

Fully recovered. Before the operation
she battled with arthritis.
She is completely healed now.
