THE JOURNEY

Lord, I feel Your presence once more
As I prepare to follow You.
Taking steps You’ve asked me to take
Are not always that easy to do.

Many times they’re uncertain,
And I can’t see what lies ahead.
It’s a time of total trust….
Believing in the Words You’ve said.

“I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
I cling to those words in foreign land.
Though on the other side of the sea,
I’m held tightly in Your hand.

I’ll go where You ask me to go,
And pray for peace along the way.
The journey begins by saying “yes”
At the dawn of each new day.

It’s a journey like none I’ve known,
One of total dependence on You.
I’ve felt Your hand upon my heart,
Seen You in ways so fresh and new!

Watching the plan You have for me
Develop, emerge and unfold…
I sit back in total awe of You
For these experiences cannot be told!

They simply have to be known
By each and every believer You call.
I’m speechless before Your splendor,
Humbled You’d think of me at all!

Why me, I sometimes might ask,
In wonder at how You always work.
“For I know the plans I have for you..”
And may I never pull away and shirk.

May I always be ready for the journey,
Look forward to Your calling each day.
Give me peace through each step, Lord,
And guide me in each and every way.

Give me strength for the journey
And a Light along my walk…
Wisdom to seek Your will with
Ears to hear, eyes to see, lips that talk.

Keep Satan and his doubt and fear
Out of my heart’s door,
For I want to serve You, Lord
Now…and forever more!

Let me step each step in faith alone
And know You are in control!
Help me trust that You can see
When around that bend I’ll go.

I place my loved ones safely in You,
For I know it’s there they will rest.
Give them angels while I am gone…
On this journey that You have blessed.

Thank You for the journey, Lord,
For it is one that I hold dear.
Thank You for calling my name
And each time I shed a tear.

For I am humbled beyond any words,
Grateful for Your precious gifts.
I am anxious to begin again…
So the journey I prayerfully lift.
