Poetry
I looked at you, the usual glance,
At friendship, I fear I'm lame.
Because I dared not seize this chance,
I somehow overlooked your pain.
And then it happened, life's reply,
I came to know such need.
I dread to think your smile a lie,
But sensed no warmth of deed.
We look to love, be loved the same,
Yet move within resignation.
Oh that love would heal such shame,
To reveal God's greater expectation.
Next time, I'll look, a wiser eye,
Real warmth I'll seek to impart.
To let you know my pain is why,
I've stepped inside your heart.
