We are forced to live in a rough and dangerous world that our collective mistakes have produced. Even so, individual ability to choose has not been compromised. No matter how many bad choices have been made, it is still possible to make good ones. And it will always be so. God's grace will guarantee it. Created in His image, redeemed by the blood of His Son, we will always have the gift of free will--no matter the world we live in. We must look beyond our society and not be unduly influenced by it. We need to listen and hear the measured beat of the universe and to recognize that God is in control of it all, including our little niche in space and time. Remember his care of the little brown sparrow? But it does require individual courage to buck the mores of our time and to make sometimes lonely decisions for good over evil. Right choices are undeniably more difficult to make in a society that clamors loudly for man's way rather than God's way--and approves that which is clearly destructive. In such a situation it is well to remember Joshua's admonition, "Be strong and of good courage...God is always with you. Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve..." Joshua 1:9, 24:15.
By God's limitless grace, we have free choice, but we surely will stand responsible before Him for the ones we make--no matter the age or clime in which we live.
