"Be still and know that I am God"....when you get a "feeling" or boredom or whatever it is in your life, it may be for different reasons. Oftentimes, we want to analyze, react, research, and figure out what it is because the "feeling" is sort of uncomfortable. It brings on adrenaline in preparation to do something. It's okay to do all of the above but keep in mind that whatever has stirred up within your heart is for a reason.
It could be just that...plain boredom. It could be a yearning to spend more time with your family. Possibly the time to look into something else might be upon you. It might be a challenge from Satan (approved by God for "no temptation or trial will come your way without God first approving it").
Whatever it is, just "be still and know that (He) is God". Instead of rushing, thinking, and worrying, work on being still and at peace so that you can listen to the inner voice that is the voice of God. He speaks in a whisper, most of the time, so that we have to tune everything else out and focus on Him and nothing else.
A few years ago, I had that "feeling" but I couldn't figure out what it was. I thought I needed some change in my life but I wasn't sure what. I wasn't discontented and yet I wasn't completely fulfilled. As the time unfolded, the restlessness was God telling and showing me that He wanted more for me and more out of me. Slowly, slowly He brought me to the desire that would change my life and others' lives forever.
He wanted me to homeschool and what timing it was too! I was eight months pregnant, recently laid off of my job, and my husband was bringing in less than $1100.00 per month...and God was telling me that I would homeschool? I thought He was out of His mind. I felt like Sarah when the Lord told her that she would be having a child in her late nineties!
"Bring up your children in the way of the Lord and when he grows old, he will not depart from it".....How could I tell my kids about the Lord and then send them to a school that completely removes God out of everything? (Keep in mind, this was MY conviction and He was calling me to do something about it. I am not against public school. I went to public school. This is just what God wanted specifically for my life.)
Also, He had always promised me that I would make a huge difference in this world; do something big to change the lives of others. Yet for years, I sat in poverty with no car, no friends, no outlet. Just babies, chores, loneliness, and depression AFTER years of a very dysfunctional upbringing. BUT He was refining me, teaching me appreciation, love for my children, patience, and the desire for more.
Long story short....the boredom, the longing, the stirring of my heart was God's calling for me into the ministry. FINALLY, I thought, I'm going to serve God in some exotic country!! I'm going to travel to some island and witness to the natives!
But do you know what God showed me throughout the years? He showed me that the stirring and emptiness was from Him. He used those years of dysfunction, poverty, and loneliness to prepare me for his calling. He had a calling for me and it wasn't in some third world country but right here where I live- home with my family (homeschooling) and with the people that I see every day who cross my path.
Now I move mountains ONE PERSON AT A TIME!!!! I can relate to the depressed housewife, the bulemic girl, the bodybuilder competing in his first contest, and the lady with arthritis. I have been there, done that.
Therefore, I believe that God's going to tell you something. But don't expect for it to be in your timing and it might not be anything remotely close to what you're thinking of. It may be something so different and you may even wrestle with Him with all kinds of doubts, questions, and unwillingness. The main thing is that you don't have to search, seek, and worry to figure out what it is. It will be revealed to you daily and a little at a time until it is so clear that you will be amazed that you never thought of it before.
God works in an amazing way! The stirring of your heart and the "wanting more or something different" is for a reason. I don't know what the reason is but I trust that as you seek Him in a peaceful, patient, and trusting way, He will reveal to you why you feel the way you do. It is a blessing.
I prayed about your situation and I believe that what God wants to say through me to you is this: "Be still know that I am God. There aren't many people who I can use but the few that truly seek Me, I will use in a tremendous way! Now is the time to completely look upon Me for your answers. I have a plan and journey for you and it will be greater than anything you've ever known but stay close to me as I, in my own timing, reveal to you. Do not stray and do not let Satan, this world, and your own concerns or emotions get in the way to rush this or take you off the path that I have set out for you. You are going to take the path I have for you no matter what. You may stray and take detours, which will only hinder what I have in store for you but My will shall be done no matter what. Remember the story of Jonah? He tried to run away from God and His will, was swallowed by a whale, and spit up right on to the city of Ninevah where I, your God, wanted him to go in the first place! Be still, my child, and trust me for I know what is best for you and I know
My will for you. And this is all because I love you."
