Why the Cross?

The cross did not draw salvations plan when Adam sinned;

The cross did not bring Israel out of bondage; the cross did not open the red sea; nor did it make a way of escape;

The cross did not speak out of the burning bush nor did it give the Ten Commandments; the cross did not feed and provide water in the wilderness for Israel’s multitudes

IT WAS THE LORD OF THE CROSS;

The cross did not bring victory over Jericho or the enemies of Gods people;

The cross was not Israel’s prophet, it never gave Solomon wisdom nor Isaiah a vision of Calvary’s lamb; the cross was not chosen to rule as king over Israel;

IT WAS THE LORD OF THE CROSS;

The cross was not born in a stable; it never carved a piece of wood nor hammered a nail;

The cross did not preach repentance; multitudes didn’t follow it down dusty roads seeking freedom;

The cross did not heal all that came to it, it did not deliver the captive and give sight to the blind nor did it bring liberty to the bruised and downtrodden;

The cross did not raise the dead; it didn’t empty tombs, nor did it weep over Jerusalem;

IT WAS THE LORD OF THE CROSS;
It wasn’t the cross that agonized in the garden of Gethsemane, it never shed blood onto a garden stone, nor was it betrayed by a friends kiss;

It wasn’t the cross that was despised and rejected, it didn’t carry your grief’s and sorrows, and it wasn’t stricken smitten of God and afflicted; its appearance wasn’t marred nor was its back made to look like a ploughed field;

The cross was not wounded for your transgressions nor was it bruised for your iniquities; the cross wasn’t chastised so that you could have peace nor was it beaten so that you could live in health.

The cross was never oppressed and afflicted, it wasn’t imprisoned and judged nor was it slaughtered and put to death;

The cross did not carry your sin and mine; it did not take upon itself the sin of the whole world; the cross simply revealed the utter depravity of man and the absolute holiness of God and the depth of his forgiveness. ‘The cross did not carry Christ, he carried it’

IT WAS THE LORD OF THE CROSS;

It was Jesus who became the atoning victim, the sacrificial lamb, the scapegoat, it was the Judge of the whole earth that judged man guilty of sin then stepped down from heavens throne and paid the wages of sin by his own death;

It was Christ that willingly laid down his life for you and I, he gave himself for the greatest of sinners, and through him the vilest offender of Gods law can be as clean as a new born child;

It was Christ, who offered himself, he was the once and for all offering for sin forever; it was Christ the Son of the living God that purchased your pardon and mine;

It was Jesus alone that walked the corridors of death, it was he that made a show over Satan, it is Christ who holds the keys of death and hell, he is the way the truth and the life.
He is the resurrected Christ the Alpha and Omega of your every moment, he alone can save, and he alone can heal and make you free.

CHRIST IS THE LORD OF THE CROSS;
Not the tree but its creator; not the cross but its victim, not the instrument of torture and death but the risen, the exalted the glorified Son of God, Jesus the Christ;
The cross did not win the victors crown Christ did,

Not the tree but Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the sake of your eternal soul endured the cross, despising the shame,

The cross does not walk among us today, it is Christ who searches for the broken hearted, it is Christ who seeks out sinners and offers them freedom and liberty, it is Christ who wills to give every cold and backslidden Christian a second chance.

Christ is walking among us for a moment in time, just one single moment for sinner who is broken enough to respond, for a sick person to come to him for healing, for a broken heart seeking to be mended, for someone imprisoned by addictions.

Don’t miss this God breathed moment… Mock the cross if you will, spit upon it if you must, but reach out and touch the man of the cross;

Let the cold and indifferent come, let them come to the Lord of the cross, let the wounded and abused come, let the beaten and the poor come, let the sick and the diseased come and he will give you health, he offers a new life, a life worth living because Christ still is; THE LORD OF THE CROSS;
