The truth is…
Easter really isn’t about bunnies,
colored eggs or fuzzy chicks.
It’s not about candy baskets,
chocolate rabbits or funny tricks.
The point isn’t found in flowers
sprinkled brightly across the ground.
Or on the grass where a vast array
of colored eggs lay all around.
It isn’t about new babies,
smiling faces, and good cheer.
It’s time for Easter’s purpose
to be made perfectly clear.

You see, God had a plan
to save His people from their sin.
So we wouldn’t have to die in death,
so satan wouldn’t win.
God loved us so much, He sent His Son,
a sacrifice for you and me,
To give us truth and life,
and open eyes that could not see.
He lived His thirty three years
a sinless life of love and then,
He was the final sacrifice,
sin debt paid for all men.

He was beaten, He was bloodied,
then placed upon that Cross.
A hefty price he paid that day,
imagine what it cost.
He didn’t curse, He didn’t hate;
a crown of thorns upon his head.
He bore the Cross, He bore the shame,
and this is what He said.
'Forgive them Father for they do not know
just what it is they do.'
Took one last breath, said 'it is finished,'
and then He died for me and you.

There’s so much more to that story,
for in a tomb He does not lay.
He conquered death, to give us life,
that’s why we celebrate Easter Day!
