The Twilight Zone


Many people think of the Twilight Zone as strange, mysterious, and weird. They picture a time, place, or show that consists of aliens, monsters, and unsolved mysterious. The Twilight Zone is normally considered as events when out-of-ordinary things happen and when people lose their minds.

However, I discovered another Twilight Zone. This is the time of day between sunset and nightfall when the sun is below the horizon. Soft,diffused light allows enough illumination for one to still be able to see but enough darkness to provide an ambience of peace and mystery.

Although early morning used to be my favorite time of the day, twilight has by far replaced the morn. When most people are settled in front of their televisions or preparing to go out for the evening to dinner or to be entertained by what the world has to offer, my family has discovered happenings far more exciting and thrilling than anything man can invent.

We’ve discovered many out-of-the-ordinary and unexplained events similar to Hollywood’s Twilight Zone and yet in a different way. For instance, against the media’s reports and shows, there are still families who participate in the bizarre act of spending time together; eating together. There are still fathers in the homes who lead in prayers of thanksgiving and teenagers who respect and appreciate their families, joining in on conversations around the table. Not all teenagers are rebellious, on drugs, and involved in violence.

A rare thing but people still take walks in the cool of the evening during this Twilight Zone. In a time of broken homes and relationships we have discovered such strange happenings as couples who’ve been together for more than sixty years holding hands and enjoying each other’s company. Against the fast-paced norm of a modern technology, processed foods, and obesity, I’ve witnessed such freak events of people actually using their own bodies for movement and transportation; in other words, exercising. Even more spectacular is that they are doing this by choice!

If the media was really wanting to look for the absurd, the different they might want to investigate things of positive value. These are unexplainable and mystical events right in front of their faces but they keep producing ideas that not only create the norm but dampen the extraordinary. This to me is mind boggling!

Stopping to spend some time with nature, to involve yourself in a staring contest with a deer, and to see a rare white owl in his habitat are all phenomenon that we often miss out on. The Twilight Zone displays a lightning show more magnificent than any artillery or firework that man can create.

My husband saved a man’s life last week at Denny’s at 1:30 in the morning by performing the Heimlich Maneuver. Paramedics arrived minutes after the food was forcibly thrown up. I contacted the newspapers. Nobody wanted to do a story on my “Silent Hero”. They wanted something more gripping, more valuable, and more attention grabbing. How much more valuable and attention grabbing can the saving of a human life be? Many incredible unedited episodes go unnoticed for we are watching the wrong Twilight Zone.

The strangest most unexplained mystery of all that will bring goose bumps to your skin and leave your hair standing on end if you’d only stop to behold it is the peace that floods your inner being and balances the input of a cold and hurried technological world. No spa or yoga class can compare. No drug or medication will give you the same lasting results without any side effects. The mystery of complete happiness within oneself and the appreciation and acceptance of one’s current situation,whether it be good or bad, allows for faith and patience that expands far beyond all human understanding. It’s enough to keep reporters and scientists baffled for a lifetime!

If you think of the Twilight Zone as being weird, strange, and unexplainable, leaving a feeling and memory that creeps under your skin and into your very soul then you are absolutely right! If you crave the rush of adrenaline and the haunting of your mind and life, then maybe you might want to tune into the Twilight Zone that not many people view. This Twilight Zone will take you beyond the ordinary and into the extraordinary and the best part is there are no reruns and no commercials!
