BATTLE OF JERICHO…POEM

I would have thought most people know
That Joshua conquered Jericho;
Inside the people still held out
They were tough, there is no doubt.

So God devised a winning plan
And he told Joshua man to man
“Those Canaanites have got to go
I’ll show you how, blow by blow”

Joshua learned God’s plan of war
Far different than he’d heard before;
To win and make the city fall
He’d have to march around the wall

Now Joshua wished to demonstrate
That he could crash the city’s gate;
But God’s plan had a certain style
That might just win for Israel

The plan is this, God laid it out:
Just trust me, I know all about
How to make the walls fall low;
And we will conquer Jericho

First in the parade will be the men
With swords and spears and after them
Priests with trumpets, numbering seven
To guard the ark, our link to heaven

And after this almighty throng
The rest will simply tag along;
But we need everyone to know
For six days only priests will blow

For six days we will march around
But you must never make a sound
Just keep your silence through the day
And let the trumpets blast away

But on the seventh, we will all
March seven times around that wall
And at your signal, to a man
Shout as loudly as you can

So this they did, and you will know
The walls fell down from Jericho;
They killed all animals and humans
Jericho they left in ruins.

They burned the place down to an ash
But rescued treasure from the stash;
Joshua struck a mighty blow
The day they conquered Jericho


MORAL

All have troubles that confront them
Different forms of bad and mayhem;
Do not strike with arms and hate
Let God take charge; just trust and wait
