Christian Living
The Cambridge dictionary defines maturity as growth and development. Spiritual maturity then, is growth and development in our spiritual life as opposed to stagnancy. It is our rise from one level to the next, an ability to out grow attitudes and behavior that characterize immaturity. You cannot tell if one is a Christian or not by just looking at them but from his/her reaction to life’s daily intrigues its easy to see if one is not only a Christian but a mature one, fighting and overcoming battles and not going round the same mountain year after year. Some signs of maturity include:
1. An ability to tame the mouth and control the words spoken.
2. Patience.
3. Hearing, reading, meditating and doing the word.
4. Bearing fruit
5. Not materialistic
6. Getting rid of negative attitudes and mind sets.
There are other signs of spiritual maturity not mentioned here but generally,
Spiritual maturity involves willingness on our part and complete trust in God. It is a growing process and takes time. It involves our conscious effort, sacrifice, and the discipline and grace to say no to whatever God says no to and to say yes when God says yes.
