One Of The Hardest Things I Do As A Poet

One of the hardest things I do as a poet
Is give my poems away.
Some written for “1” who has touched my heart
In some “God only knows way.”

It will never be seen in some "Honorable Place,"
But simply put a smile on a tired worn out face,
Or be used by God to quicken the pace,
Of one on their journey as they live out God’s Grace.

There is one special place I’ve always wanted to see,
Inside the heart that’s gotten a poem from me,
But God’s kept that privilege, as "His Place To Be,"
For “He Gave Them The Poems," “Thanks To Calvary.”

So I’ll keep on writing whatever the cost,
Whether received with a “Thank You” or a bit of a frost.
A light in a dark place to reach out to the lost,
And as a comfort to those who on life’s sea are tossed.

Some you have read were meant just for you,
But others were given away because God told me to,
To a lonely heart, a friend in despair, or just to say:
“You’re special for your being there.”

So Lord help me never to miss any heart,
When some words of poetry might Your Comfort impart.
And Lord give me the words that You’d have me to say;
For only You can truly brighten their way.

Thank You Lord Jesus!
