Falling from limbs of paternal instinct
Floating on breezes of inevitability
Coming to rest on plains of no surprise
The bittersweet taste of goodbye

Yesterday I was a child
You held me fast and secure
Now that I am older
With waning strength I hold you sure
Yet time will demand that I let go
And soon my own, will fly

“Rest close to this Tree child,
That I may shade you as you grow
Let my prayers be as Iron,
To weld you in the fold
Be filled with the breath of Heaven,
You have your Fathers eyes
For when God dreamt of children,
He had you on His mind.”
