Against the current


The river was beautiful. Paddling the canoe had become easy. The servant floated down the river as the current slowly carried him along.

Suddenly, the river became choppy tipping the canoe first one direction and then the other. The current sped up causing the boat to pick up speed It was rapidly headed toward the falls.

The servant spotted danger ahead ahead and realized death was close at hand if he stayed on this present course.

He cried out to his Master, "Please help me, Master! I don't want to die! I don't want to go over the falls!"

The Master was close. " I will help you and guide your path, but you have to turn the canoe around."

The servant attempted turning the boat around. His arms grew tired fighting the current, but he continued fighting for his life. Extreme exhaustion overpowered the servant as he stopped to rest his tired body.

The rest was brief. The canoe was caught up in the current and once again headed toward the falls.

Tired and in pain the servant battled the raging current. Staying on course to avoid the rocks and the logs floating past him, was difficult. Depending on his Master for strength, he turned the canoe around; headed toward the peaceful waters.

Fighting the current had become easier as the servant continued paddling. He heard his Master by his side encouraging him to continue. "Let me guide your path to the peaceful waters. I will bring you to safety and rest. I will give you strength and courage for the journey. Keep your eyes on Me and I will bring you to Victory."
