Mortality, Hope and Faith


Hope,

When a storm is upon me,
Sees tomorrow a much better day,
And all of the darkness around me,
Tomorrow in hope fades away.

Faith,

Is the anchor that holds me,
Fast with my feet on the ground,
Wavering not in the storms rush,
It’s the soundest virtue I’ve found.

When oceans are breaking upon me,
The tempest seems overly high,
I feel on the reefs I’ll be broken,
Then faith and hope draws me nigh.
In the deep and darkness my footing,
Is unstable as the surge rushes in,
Yet I know that my hope and my faith will,
Keep me wrapped safely with Him.
The storms soon are but a memory,
One broken day, which I lived through,
When weighed against my future,
It will pale when I pause in review.

Mortal,

For now, and I know it,
No pretending of something I’m not,
But immortal is a promise I’m given,
And it’s something that isn’t self-taught.
It arises from faith deep inside me,
And the hope of something not seen,
It is knowing in some future moment,
A day when I am redeemed.
It is pagan to deny he is coming,
A mistake of the greatest degree,
Unbelief will not change his returning,
Or slow his coming for me.
