Is There A word From The Lord
Hear and Obey

I Peter 2:13-18
Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether it be to the King as Supreme
Or unto Governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well
For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men
As free, and not using your liberty for a cloak of maliciousness, but as the servants of God
Honour all men, love the brotherhood, fear God, honour the King
Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the forward

Four main points:
(A) Submit – be subject
(B) Silence some things with well doing
(C) Use your liberty for righteousness
(D) Honour each other – esteem one another

Peter here in our text, is exalting us in our relationship toward one another, believers being subject to every human institution. The letter itself was written to Christians in Asia minor to stimulate in them a joyful Hope in the face of persecution. The church was going through some tough persecution. Stephen was persecuted, Paul was constantly harassing them wherever he went, so they knew about being antagonized. Nero, the demented emperor was about to explode at the expense of the church. He confirmed his flock with the comforting hope of the Spirit.

The Word of the Lord comes saying: not a new Word but to remind us of our relationship one to another. We are exhorted by Jesus to love one another, to have love one to another and not by having respect of persons.

We are to submit (cease resistance, give way, yield, present for consideration (consider your ways), subject a person or thing to an operation, process, treatment. Surrender, give in, give up, bend, succumb, agree, concede, consent, respect, comply, with). People we need to learn to submit to things in a way that it will bring glory to God, even strangers submit themselves to the Word and you when they come here. You can tell by their submission to the call when they are hearing the Word by their submission and obedience to the Word, applied to their lifestyles. You can tell when repentance has taken place. They aren’t afraid because they know that the Lord lives and blessed be the exalted rock of my salvation. It is God that avenge me and bring down the people under me and bring me forth from mine enemies. He hath also lifted me up on high above them that rose up against me. He will even deliver you from the violent man. So why won’t we submit to those that have the rule over you? Hebrews 13:7 and verse seventeen, remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the Word of God, whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. Obey them that have the rule over you and submit yourselves, for they watch for your souls, as they must give an account (see Ezekiel 33:1-7), that they may do it with joy, and not with grief, for it is unprofitable for you. Too many of us are worrying about leading and not submitting to leadership. James 4:7, submit your self therefore to God. You are not submitted to God when you won’t submit to man whom God has under girded to lead and guide you. Too many people want Heaven but don’t want to give up any thing to get there. That leader also must be submitted to God, but if he isn’t, you don’t hear him. Receive the Word only, even if it comes out of a Hellish mouth. Sometime people say I miss you, but yet they don’t listen to a word you live by. To know him is to love him, to love him is to obey his Holy Word, to obey him is to live the gospel. Too many sheep look for the leader to go and begat sheep. Sheep begat sheep, and shepherds lead.

It is high time we as the sheep of God be a prepared people to go to a prepared place. This calls us to get our vessels prepared. Is your vessel, mind, body, and soul submitted to every word that proceeded out of his Word? Do you pull off and put on as you learn? Resist the Devil and he will flee. Some people don’t resist, nor do they want to. They will enable him through disobedience to take control, and most times they don’t realize they he is in control. When I or anyone else stand; at the podium, it’s not about me, but God.

Being submissive to God’s Word violates the word and will and the spirit of the Devil. Submission will bring you closer to God, cleanse your hands, purify your hearts, humble you and cause you not to speak evil one of another. My heart cannot be right and my mouth doesn’t agree. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth will speak, orally so and in all your actions. Don’t be ignorant of Satan’s devices or of God’s righteousness. I am not saying go and establish your righteousness, for then you are not submitted to God.
