Self-confrontation

It seems that most of our problems in life are due to inner weakness or lack of courage. Sure there are things beyond our control like hurricanes and hot weather, but there are a lot of things we have failed to succeed in our life because of poor decisions rooted in weakness. "SELF CONFRONTATION" is a fancy phrase that I came up with, but I took it from an idea in the Bible. Paul talked about how he put the body to death daily and how he beats his body every day (1 Corinthians 9:26-28). Don't misinterpret this as physical pain and self-torture. It means putting the desires of our bodies aside so we can live according to how God wants us to live. The scary thing to all this is that it is rooted in our choice. Wickedness and Righteousness hangs on our ability to choose. Not studying cause it's boring or giving up when things get hard all comes from the "body" getting its way. Learn to confront yourself and win. Tell it (your body) what it's doing wrong and make it stop. Tell it to get off it's lazy butt and get moving. Tell it that quitting is not an option, that life is hard and just suck it up. Tell it to close its mouth and stop complaining. Tell it to stop looking at the flaws of others and start looking inward. Force it to listen to you and not do what it wants. Push it to give an extra mile. Remind it that its only boss is GOD and you. Challenge it to keep up with you and what you expect out of it. Grab it by its little ear and pull it close and yell, "you will do what I say!!! ". Pray for strength, then use it when it's given. Do you think marathon runners were born to be athletes? Do you think they woke up one day and said, "I think I am running 26.2 miles today for the heck of it".? The runners, the swimmers, the man graduating medical school,- anyone who was successful in life all learned how to confront the weakness within themselves and in the end, they learned not to listen to their aching bodies or tired eyes and just kept going. Of course none of it is as easy as it sounds, but God is able to give an awesome amount of strength for such situations and we must learn to use what HE gives. The small habits of not quitting in little things will pay off in the long run.

God bless,
