“Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me…”

"Oh there she goes again singing her pious songs, what does she know about God any way,I bet it is just a show,I’m sure she is one of those religious nuts”,as thoughts go through Lucy’s head.

“Nurse, could you please tell that lady or religious nut in the next bed I don’t care to hear about her pie in the sky songs, they just don’t click with me,if you know what I mean.”

“Okay, Lucy I will tell Mary not to sing so loud but she is welcome to sing her songs with her beautiful voice they seem to echo out in the halls and so many patients here look forward to hearing her sing every morning, they say it is like listening to the heart of God.”

Lucy replies “Well may be they enjoy it but I find it a real headache. And by the way what is she in here for? "Like you Lucy she has cancer, you know this is the cancer ward everyone here has cancer.”
“Oh Yea I forgot this is where all those forgotten of God end up any way;may be her God is real and likes to watch me suffer,I don’t care for a god that lets people suffer,I would rather just believe that when I’m done here I will end up in some place of final rest.”

“Oh my, replies nurse Nancy; So sad that you believe that,I will pray for you.”
Lucy replies”;pray for me what for I’m better of believing that there is no God any way.”
“Oh my”;replies nurse Nancy,"if you only understood His Love.”

Nurse Nancy moves towards Mary’s bed with her medicine;“time for your Chemotherapy Mary”,”Okay I’m ready I know it will make me sick
again, but I know Jesus will help me”. “Oh It is such a beautiful day the Sky is beautiful;says,Mary.
“What are you taking about?” replies Lucy” it is raining and it is one dreary looking day!”

“Oh “replies Mary;” that is not what I see.” “ You must be blind if that is what you see!” replies Lucy, and takes the pillow and hits it and lays her headown.

“Amazing Grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me I once was blind but now I see...”

“Oh there she goes again with her song “says Lucy and takes the pillow and covers her head.

“Dinner time ladies”and the cafeteria lady walks in the room with their meals.

“I sure am hungry “replies Mary,” this food looks great.”
“Thank You Jesus for this food, amen.”

“Oh I’m sick of this cafeteria food it just makes me sick,I’d rather
have a hamburger and fries any day”, replies Lucy.

Lucy draws back the curtain and takes a look at frail Mary contently eating her food.

“You’re so young, you must not be older than 16,”
she says;
“and here I’m at 52 and I have the same disease.
"What kind of God would allow some one so young to suffer?”

Lucy calls over to Mary.
“Finally I’m going to address who is behind all that noise that you are responsible for.”
“Noise “replies Mary,” You mean my singing?”
“Yes, that noise” replies Lucy.

“I’m sorry if you do not like it; but it is my favorite song and it gives me such inner peace when I sing it . I feel so close to God when I sing those words”,replies Mary.

“Well if it works for you then go a head and sing ,but just keep it down,”replies Lucy.

“Time for bed Ladies” replies nurse Nancy.

Mary starts to sing Amazing Grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me and then she starts to grasp for breath.
Mary’s monitor triggers a code blue alert;the nurses come in and starting paddling her heart with shock treatment.

Lucy calls out “God if your real than don’t let this young girl die!!!”

“What “says the nurse I think her heart rhythm is returning.
“Yes, Praise the Lord!" replies one of the nurses”.

The night is quiet and Lucy returns to sleep and Mary is in stable condition over the night...

Morning arrives ,and nurse Nancy walks in the room and asks Mary “how are you feeling? "You sure gave us a scare last night; we thought for sure that The Father was taking you home.”
“Not Yet” replies Mary, “my work is not done!”

Lucy wakes up, with a tear in her eye,” I called out to Your God and said if you are real
then don’t let Mary die,and He must of heard me because your still with us.”

“Yes, Lucy, my Heavenly Father in Heaven wanted you to see that He is real and that He loves you!”

“God Loves me?” replies Lucy with tears in her eyes, “Yes”, says Mary and quotes John 3:16.

Lucy replies “,I have been here with you over 6 weeks and I have never heard you complain once about your treatments and you always seem to be singing and for some reason you seem to see things differently out the window.”

“What do you see this morning Mary? asks Lucy ?” I see a beautiful sunny day with angels in the sky.”
“How can that be I see dark clouds and rain replies,”Lucy.

“I want to know your God” says Lucy , “Mary how can I know Him?
“Read His Holy Word the Bible and you will Know Him and Love Him;
tell Him your sorry for your sins and ask Him to live in your heart.”replies Mary.

“Oh God I’m sorry for my sins, please forgive me;” cries Lucy.
“Please forgive me for being such a ungrateful and bitter person" cries Lucy"please Jesus come and live in my heart,"
as the tears stream down her face.

The clouds seem to fade away as the sun begins to radiate a Bright Light across Mary’s bed,and a rainbow appears in the sky.

Lucy shouts, I see the beautiful sky, I see the sun, I see a rainbow!

Mary’s heart starts rushing and a code blue alert is called ;the attendants and a nurse rush frantically to attend to her but her heart
is to weak and she takes her last breath...

Silence in the room and tears on nurse Nancy’s face.

“I don’t’ understand” says Lucy, “she seemed to be alright.”

Nurse Nancy replies,” It was her time to go and be with Her Heavenly Father; the angels came to take her to Heavenly Home.”

“She said she saw angels this morning, replies Lucy. “How could that be”; replies nurse Nancy;” Mary was blind.”

“Oh I did not know with tears in her eyes”; replies Lucy.
“She had more vision and inner strength than I ever have had in my lifetime;”replies Lucy.

Nurse Nancy replies as she walks away with tears in her eyes ,“Yes; God was Her inner strength!”
