There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. (1John4:18)

For a long period I wanted to start a home based business so I could make some money even as a stay at home mum. I finally got a brilliant idea. I would use my hairdressing skills to cater to women who needed personalized service .I could fix their hair in my home or go to their own homes during weekends when my husband could care for the kids or weekdays when the kids were at school . I would get my customers from networking in church, my children’s school and referrals from old customers. The plan sounded foolproof until I started to listen to the voice of fear in my head. What if I buy all the equipment I need and no one comes to fix their hair? What if someone comes with a style I can’t handle? What if I encounter hostility in my bid to network and promote my business what if….I ended up not starting the business.
Whenever I set out to do something new and self improving ,I get excited and start making plans .The period between planning and actually taking actions to fulfill that goal, fear sets in to convince me of many reasons why I should not take decisive action then I feel like a failure even before I begin. Due to fear, I become paralyzed and cannot take a bold step out.

Fear causes torment and can enlarge a minor issue to make it seem extraordinary. It can cause us to worry over something that may never happen and rob us of our joy.
Some of us worry over little issues while others have real reasons to worry. What ever the case may be, God has not given us the spirit of fear (2Tim1:7) so if God has not given us the spirit of fear, it means that the enemy is at work ready to torment you if you allow it.
As Christians, the promise that freedom from fear and oppression doesn’t come near (Isaiah54:14) belongs to everyone who claims it, believes it and then applies it to every aspect of their lives. We are ambassadors for Christ so we ought to be in a hurry to better our lives and relationships so that we can be an inspiration and blessing to others thereby glorifying God and representing him the way we ought to.

Dear lord, as we go through life, give us the courage to step out boldly to achieve all you have called us to and even when we feel fear, give us strength to rise above the fear and concentrate on giving glory to your name and not to fear in Jesus name amen.

Closing thought
Each time fear comes into your mind to tell you that you cannot achieve all you have set out to, remember that God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind then get up and go. It works!
