A child sits, legs crossed, behind the rustle of her peers,
aware there is no one but her.
They, and she are gathered in a room
by the window in her house.
Her chin rests on the knuckles of her fists.
A stranger stands and begins.

A tapestry is woven before their eyes,
of Words she has heard many times. Of Words
she hears for the first time. The Spirit reveals
the consequences for all mankind, and
the fault lay not only with her.
And the messenger continues to speak.

With perfect strokes the Spirit weaves pure threads
of red and gold, into Redemption’s story;
the promise of rescue and Glory. Clear eyes are opened.
Jesus is standing at the door of her heart,
knocking … gently. She does not want to wait!
And the lady asks them to raise their hands.

Moments are passing! The Spirit hovers … ready!
His stillness speaks no words.
Jesus is knocking – now! She cannot wait
and she opens the door of her heart. Jesus enters,
and turns to shut the door; her 6 yr. old soul is sealed.
Then her Mom tells everyone it’s time for snacks.

And Jesus goes with her … and never leaves.

*Author’s note: My mother had a Good News Club for children once a week in our home when we lived on an Air Force Base in Nebraska. Bases are full of children. Good News Clubs are a Missionary Outreach, usually of a church, and someone from that church comes to give the lessons.
