The trials strike, they pound our breast,
Unseeming though they be,
Our tortured lives wreak havoc so,
In fear prosperity.

For those that have no need of Him,
Who gave His life that day,
Will not be answered though they cry,
“Oh Lord show us the way.”

The lion roams, he stalks his prey,
The adder hisses by,
To find their food, they rest assured,
That God won’t let them die.

The hummingbird, he hovers nigh,
The nectar sweet to taste,
And bumblebees, the honey found,
Won’t dare a drop to waste.

Thus lilies dressed and insects fed,
How much more should we trust,
That God’s sweet tender mercy sure,
Will keep our lives from bust.

Thus when such tribulation comes,
And threatens and assails,
Let not our hearts be troubled much,
For trials faith entails.
