A chicken told a pig, "Between you and me, we could provide
that poor family with a ham & egg dinner." The pig replied,
"Sure, for you it's just a contribution, but for me it's total
commitment."

Commitment -- that's a bold and powerful word. But in light of
the little story, let's try some introspection. When it comes to
representing Jesus Christ to our little world around us, are we just
making a token contribution or is it total commitment?

I suppose God would ask us if we are really doing all we can to
portray a true picture of Christ's compassion to those around us
who need it. That's pretty heavy, isn't it? But it is surprising how
getting involved in the needs of others can lessen our concern
about our own problems.

Consider this challenge from Phil. 2:1 & 2 (niv): "If you have
any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort
from His love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness
and compassion, then make my joy complete by being
like-minded, being one in spirit and purpose." That is so specific
that it needs no further explanation. Let's apply it to our journey
today.
