My six-year-old grandson came to hug me
and said, “Grandma, your love is no surprise;
I can see love in your eyes …
when we part … say our good-byes.
You love me like no other;
in my heart you’re my mother.”
It is true that we’ve raised him since he was born.
Small, we held him in the palm of our hand …
as he suffered, struggled to live.
What else but love could we give?
We placed his life in God’s hands.
Our miracle … understand?
When we count our blessings in daily prayers,
we count God’s answers … we know that He cares
and His love is no surprise.
It’s in our grandsons’ brown eyes.
May it be there pure and free
forever … eternally.
