John 1:9 The real light, which shines on everyone, was coming into the world. GW

This week, we have a friend, we have not seen for some time, flying up to see us. Although she is not one to look at my housekeeping, I have been cleaning every nook and cranny. Everything shone, not a dog hair or a dust bunny in sight. I sat down relieved and pleased with myself.

The skies cleared and a sunbeam shot into the living room, through smeared windows, highlighting miniscule bits on the floor and blonde dog hair on the carpet. The place looked awful. I hoped the sun would not shine when she arrived or I would have to pull the sheer drapes to shut it out. Housekeeping hypocrisy.

When Jesus who is the real light shines on my life what will He see? I know that there are still some spiritual dust bunnies to be cleaned out, or maybe worse. Not every nook and cranny of my soul has been opened up to allow the cleansing light in as yet.

It is good to know that by His sacrifice I am already cleansed and He has covered me with a robe of righteousness. The rest, He will work in me in His time as I am ready and willing.
