Lord the question often is,
“What is in it for me?”
The selfishness of the human heart,
Apart from Deity.

Single-minded vision,
Putting self on the throne.
Looking not on others,
That they may be struggling alone.

The times that I am infected,
By this virus from hell.
I am so swiftly reminded,
Of the woman at the well.

How she came in ignorance,
With a bucket full of sin.
Knowing not that deliverance,
Was soon to be felt within.

But once she met the Savior,
Her thirst was satisfied.
And in the town that knew her,
Of her forgiveness she testified!

Glory Hallelujah,
I've met the Fountain of Life!
The One who knows me personally,
Of whose husband I am the wife.

While I was dodging questions,
And thinking not of Him.
He somehow gained my attention,
And drew me slowly in.

I was in The Presence.
Of the Son of Man.
The Very Messiah from Heaven,
Who delivered me from sin.

I cannot refrain from telling,
Of how He set me free.
He gave me Living Water,
I'll drink Eternally!

So Lord as I sense an awareness.
Of selfishness creep in.
I pray that You will forgive me,
And put me on track again.

Make me as that woman.
That you ministered to at the well.
Help me go forth joyfully,
For I've a story to tell!

Hallelujah, What a Saviour!
