Those who know their God shall be strong and they shall do great exploits. That was why Paul said, 'That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, the fellowship of His suffering... God said, 'Let he who boast, boast in the fact that he knows me.'
God wants you to do great exploit to glorify Him, make your mark, make a difference, and live a life of significance on this earth. He wants you to know your destiny and to fulfil it. Jesus said, ‘Without me, you can do nothing.’

The first step to knowing God is by being born again. Nicodemus was a religious man who knew about God but did not know him. He saw the miracles Jesus performed and visited Jesus at night wanting to know more. He marvelled, 'Rabbi, no one can do all these miracles except God was with Him.' Jesus told Him, 'Except a man be born again, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. Marvel not I say unto you, you must be born again. Whatever is born of the flesh is flesh and whatever is born of the spirit is spirit.’

The New Birth is essential to having any relationship with God. No matter how religious one might be, it is a prerequisite. The Word of God says, all our righteousness is like filthy rags before God. We are saved by grace through faith- not of works, lets anyone should boast. Cornelius was a devout man, we were told, who gave alms and prayed to God, but he was far away from God. God had to speak to him in a vision to tell him what to do. Acts 10

Paul was a religious fanatic who went about imprisoning and killing Christians, thinking he was doing the right thing and doing God a favour. Jesus met him on the road to Damascus on his way to kill some more. And as a result of that encounter with Christ, Paul was born again, knowing God in a personal intimate way.

The New Birth is the greatest miracle that can happen to anyone- being transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of God’s dear Son, the Kingdom of light and life. In this kingdom, God is our Father and Jesus is the Good shepherd who laid down His life for the sheep. We are the sheep of His pasture.

After this initial encounter, we need to grow in our knowledge of God and avail ourselves of the great and marvellous things which He has in store for us. And so we are enjoined in 1 Peter 2:2, ‘like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.’

Peter, after warning believers of the need to live in expectancy of the Lord's return, concluded his second letter, saying, 'Therefore, dear friends, since you already know this, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of lawless men and fall from your secure position. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.'

God said, ‘eye has not seen, ear has not heard, neither has it entered in to the heart of man what God has prepared for those who love Him. We are blessed with every spiritual blessing in heaven places. We were crucified with Christ and have been raised from the dead with Christ and seated with Him in heavenly places. We are the heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. God has given us His exceeding great and precious promises through the knowledge of Him. By these promises, He made us partakers of His divine nature. We are told that there are over 8000 promises in the Bible. How many do you know? Are you enjoying these promises? Are you growing in grace? Are you growing in your prayer life? Are you growing in your bible study? Do you love the word of God like the Psalmist who said, 'How I love Your word. It is my meditation, day and night.'

Growing in the Lord takes time, but it pays fine. Growing takes effort, consistency and endurance. Like babies, we learn to crawl before we walk and there will be falling and rising up to continue this Race of Grace. The Holy Spirit is here to help us as we acknowledge Him. He will strengthen us, guide us into all truth, teach us, empower us, stand by us, show us things to come and do a lot more besides.

Jesus, interceding for us before going to the cross prayed, 'Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ Whom You have sent.'

Man, know your God.
Reconciled to Him
Then grow in grace
Married to His word
His way and His will
Pant and thirst for Him
Day and night, all the time.
Pine and whine for the milk.
Crawl, walk and run in the spirit.
