Self Control as fruit of the Spirit

Created with capacity for free choice,
We have oft listened to the wrong voice.
Choosing the wrong over the right,
And consequently facing the plight
Forgetting we are children of Light

Many a times the spirit wills,
But the flesh is weak.
We do that we have confessed
The umpteenth time, afresh!

Thank God for Grace of our Lord,
Available always in great supply.
Nevertheless the purpose of Grace
Ought be understood
Else, abuse is inevitable.

Shall we continue in lack of control?
God forbid! Judgment will take its toll.
Have self-control as a fruit,
That sure the Lord, will suit.

Consider! Before that next action,
Before that next utterance,
Does the Spirit sanction?
Listen to the right unction.
“Be still and know that I AM the Lord”
