So many things have happened.
They all came through so fast.
We know the devastation
Will continue for years to last.

First, Katrina came, then Rita,
Then earthquakes from far away.
Though signs showed they were coming,
What went wrong we still can’t say.

No one seemed to be prepared.
It really was a shame.
Still, now they’re pointing fingers
Cause no one wants the blame.

“Are we being punished?”
Someone asked the other day.
Well, there are those who speculate,
But, for certain they cannot say.

One thing I saw with my own eyes
Was lots of love and caring.
People who hadn’t helped before
Were now involved and sharing.

They came with water, food and clothes,
And whatever else was needed.
When churches and agencies put out the call
Their plea for help was heeded.

It’s just my observation.
I may not be right at all.
But, I think that what God wanted
Was to give us a “wake-up call.”
