If anyone was under the misconception
that Song of songs
is not about the love
of You and me -
this I can testify:

It is my story
of You being so near
and then, in a moment,
away.

Of me seeking You
in all the wrong places,
and only ending up
beaten and bruised.

Of me longing so much for You
in one moment,
and being too lazy to open up for You
in the next.

Of You blowing over me
with a gentle caress from the south,
and scorching me
with the colf north wind next.

Of You making me faithful
so that You can trust
and of me
learning to trust.

Of You calling me away,
to an intimate lover's place
to listen to me
and gaze on my face.

Of You loving me
with fury,
of me only being able
to love You back
with what You gave to me
in the first place.

That is my story
my love affair
my life
my Christ.
