First Start: We start being at birth. Our start opens our natural mind and eyes to growing, learning, and loving. We are free of thought, pretense, or motive. We are pure. We don’t “do” love, we are simply being love.

In the process of natural growth, we start moving and relating through our experiences. We are taught how to react by what works. When we cry, our needs are met. When we laugh, joy comes. We are learning the art of communication. No longer free of pretense, we understand the power of behavior; as so, a measure of pureness is extinguished. We continue to be love, but we’re learning to do love.

Second Start: As time races on, a new start begins - we have become intelligent. We have mastered what works, and we have elevated our behavior. We know every action brings a reaction, and we’ve begun to read people. While our learned manipulation gains us more, emptiness exists. There is more to this, we know – we feel it! There is more. But in our quest to find our own intelligent, knowledgeable answers, we try other natural endeavors – top education, and the career track to the top - believing, hoping that it is the answer. Yet in this climbing and striving, emptiness still exists.

Third Start: In our quest for the best, the better, and the more, we have found nothing. At the end of the rainbow there was no pot of gold. There was stuff without the peace. There was magnificence without the fulfillment. In the end, we realize all is vanity and grasping for the wind. It is only at the start of this hour can we see again. Only at this hour can we see with fresh, pure eyes what it’s truly about. We go back to the beginning. We become like little children, starting again – children that do not know the way through the wilderness, but cry out to get our needs met by our one and true Father.

This is the new start – the unmarked, unclaimed territory. Fresh seeing with spiritual eyes that must come to brings us back to the beginning. Back with a new heart that chooses love over manipulation. Knowing that He is with us, directing us along His divine plan.

Our lives have been a series of starts from the day we’re born. However, the last, most important start isn’t automatic. It is bound by our choice. We either choose to stay on our own knowledge-filled treadmill, racing towards the elusive “there”, with eyes that are not satisfied with seeing, nor ears satisfied with hearing. We press on, doing it “my way”, trying to find the way. Or we choose to surrender to the One who is the way. This start is up to us.
