Old Man Winter came for a visit.
He put on his winter clothes after the leaves
began to fall.
His vaporous breath whispers of misty fog
like a panting dog.
The pupils of his eyes widen as an owls
awaking from sleep.
Wrinkles hang loosely from his weary brows
as he smiles.
He hears the morning chatter as his shoulders
shake with laughter.
Huge hands desire for the morning sun
to quickly rise.
He leaves an icy trail that resembles
that of a snail.
His nimble knees hop with a little bow
over the creek.
Old Man Winter then takes a hike
to see the sights.
The bears are seeking shelter for a
long winter's nap.
Squirrels are gathering nuts to eat.
It's a favorite chore.
Deer in the meadow are in peace running free
as can be.
Then a frigid breeze stirs the air as the trees
begin to dance.
The mountains are now lined with fearsome looking
clouds up in the sky.
Old Man Winter then covers the forest with
a blanket of snow.
When it begins to melt, it is clear that spring
is very near.
