The great commission tells us to go into the entire world and make disciples of all men. Somewhere along the way, we seem to have gotten ourselves sidetracked. While it’s true that we want to share the gospel with others, more often than not, we walk away thinking that someone else will do it.
Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you a prophet to the nations (Jer 1:5).
Let’s change that around a little bit. I appointed you to tell your neighbor about me. I have set you apart to tell your sister about me.
Unfortunately, whenever the opportunity comes to tell someone about Jesus, we want to pass the buck. Jeremiah himself said, “I do not know how to speak for I am only a child.”
What has been your excuse? I always have said, “God, I don’t know what to say.” “They will think of me as a Jesus Freak.” “Nobody will want anything to do with me anymore.” “They will just laugh at me.”
Sound familiar? When it comes to telling people about Jesus, we tend to freeze up and walk way. It’s too hard just to invite someone to church.
Jesus told us in Matthew 24:14, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world, as a testimony to the nations, and then the end will come.”
We have reached a place in time where this is no longer important. Reaching the lost has lost its meaning. Is it because we don’t want to see people come to Christ or because we no longer want to offend anyone?
In the name of tolerance, we can’t stand in the pulpits and tell people the World of God. If it’s offensive, you might leave and take your money with you. Since most churches are building massive complexes they need your money.
If the Church were to suddenly start teaching that Jesus could come back at any second and be serious about it, the world we live in would be a much different place. Sadly, the Church is not fulfilling its duty to mold people in the image of Christ.
If you happen to be one of the few who still hold to the truth that we need to reach the lost then you will be drummed out of the church. It’s just a matter of time. Where do you turn when the Body of Christ doesn’t want you and the world doesn’t want you either?
It’s sad how we send Missionaries to all parts of the world but we can’t even step one foot in our own back yard. It’s safer inside the four walls then to go outside into hostile territory. When we do manage to bring someone to church they get treated like dirt. They don’t dress right or they don’t make enough money or they look funny. They just don’t fit in so if we ignore them they will go way.
Jeremiah 1:17 says, “Get yourself ready!” The Gospel will be preached to all the nations whether the Church thinks is politically correct or not. It’s not going to be an easy task. The message of the cross is not one that will be easily excepted but we have friends and neighbors who will perish if we don’t tell them.
Can you live with the fact that they will burn because you couldn’t take two minutes of your life to share Jesus with them? Jesus said, “Greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.”
You may get trashed. They may laugh at you and treat you badly but you can’t escape the call that God has placed upon you. God’s promise is very clear. “They will fight against you but will not overcome you. For I am with you and will rescue you.” Declares the Lord.
This is the last hour. Time is almost up. While we still have light,let us work hard to win those who are lost. God is not willing that any should perish but that all come to repentance. Reach out to those around you. You may be their only hope of getting into heaven.
