It is good to read the Word,
It is better to let it read you;
And much better, rid you of sin.

The Church in Laodicea

14"To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:
These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's creation. 15I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. 17You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. 18I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. 19Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent. 20Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. 21To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne. 22He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches." Rev.3:14-22



On a cold day, when you’re feeling the chill, a hot tea or coffee or some hot drink is gold. On the other hand, when it is extremely hot you would prefer a very cold drink. Lukewarm tea, coffee or drink rarely has a place.

God has given us His word to read so that we can have the light of life. His word is a light to our path and a lamp to our feet. It is medicine to one’s whole body. The Psalmist said

9 How can a young man keep his way pure?
By living according to your word.
10 I seek you with all my heart;
do not let me stray from your commands.

1 I have hidden your word in my heart
that I might not sin against you.
Ps119:9-11
The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Ps 12:6
The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD: but the words of the pure are pleasant words. Prov 15:26

But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. Jame1:25
Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. Jam 1:21,22
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. Gal 6:7
Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. James 1:15
A little leaven leavens the whole lump. Gal 5:9

3 Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD?
Or who may stand in His holy place?
4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol
Nor sworn deceitfully.
5 He shall receive blessing from the LORD,
And righteousness from the God of his salvation. Ps24:3-5


Sin is blinding, deceptive, corrosive, separating the spirit from God; robs you of God presence and best, ambushes vision, postpones progress, enthrones Satan. Sin buries spiritual beauty, brings pain and tears, enslaves, imprisons, keep you on the broad road that leads to hell. Sin pollutes, steals your peace, slowly maims and kills and lulls to sleep. Sin is an affront to God. Sin soils, sears the spirit and soul, saps your strength, sabotages and surrenders your future, sweeps wrong under the carpet, strengthens wrong, strives, signs a pact with the devil, seeks its own, separates friends, sells out to the enemy and adversary, sells a lie and is a spiritual sickness.

The word of God helps us to see ourselves as we are. It corrects us, admonishes us, instructs us, and teaches us the truth. It shows us the way to go, the right path- the way of life, peace, joy, gentleness, patience, goodness, love, faith, faithfulness, endurance, selflessness, forgiveness and surrender to God The Word of God brings humility, righteousness, integrity, purity, worship and praise of the only true Living Loving God. The word of God washes our minds, warns us, directs us, heals us, delivers us, protects us, comforts us, helps us, guides us, reconnects us to God, keeps us plugged into God, ensuring His abiding presence. God’s word unmasks sin and Satan. It is the sword of the Spirit with which to wage war with the world, the flesh and the devil. Boldness comes from the Word and so is soundness of mind and power with God. It is the mind of God and settled in heaven, faithful, trustworthy, powerful, dynamic, alive, shaper than any two edged sword and penetrative and thearapeutic.

The word is like a gold mine, a great treasury, a great spoil. Like a hammer, it can break that which needs to be broken and like a balm it can heal. It is beautiful bountiful and boundless, a counsellor at crossroads, a doctor and nurse in pain.

You and I must covet it, crave for it, consume it, care for it, kiss it, embrace it look into it, love it more than we love natural food, be devoted to it, trust it, not be ashamed of it, speak it, meditate on it, mind it, lift it up, engrave it on the tablet of our hearts, sing it, remember it and delight in it.

The last Church in Revelation unfortunately read the word but did not allow the word to read her. She looked in the mirror but failed to acknowledge what she saw. She was deceived, deluded and damaged yet she though she was rich but the Holy Spirit saw otherwise She was indeed ‘wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked’. She was lukewarm but unaware. She thought she was great but God saw through her. She thought she had a 20-20 vision but she needed an eye salve to see properly. She needed the gold of God’s word to straighten her and put her back on the straight and narrow Way that leads to life. She had fallen but thought she was tall strong and upright. Her white robes were soiled by sin but she paraded it with impunity, feeling like an angel. She was like a frog tossed into a kettle that was gradually heated. She adjusted her body temperature as the heat increased until she blew up.


I pray that you and I you come daily to the perfect law of liberty, the word of God and search it, look at it and see ourselves as we are, hear what the Holy Spirit is saying to us. God corrects the child He loves. He wants the best for us. Lets take the eye salve He gives and apply it to our eyes so that we can see properly and correct our ways and walk in the pathway of righteousness for His Name’s sake. May we confess and forsake sin and walk as children of light, walk as He walked, talked as He talked, do as He did, reflecting his glory, his beauty, his wisdom, His excellence, compassion, purity and magnificence.

9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1John1:9
13 He who covers his sins will not prosper,
But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.Prov28:13
18 "Come now, let us reason together,"
says the LORD.
"Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.
19 If you are willing and obedient,
you will eat the best from the land;


Judah’s last king was blind; Israel’s last judge was blind, Revelation’s last Church was naked, poor and blind. May we too not be blind.
