Prayer for My Hands

Heavenly Father with these hands
I have touched others,
Sometimes with tenderness and love,
Sometimes with anger and rage.

Sometimes I have touched others with
The gentleness of a calm breeze.
Sometimes I have touched others with
The harshness of a violent wind.

With these hands I have loved and
With these hands I have hurt others.
With these hands I have given gifts and
With these hands I have taken gifts.
With these hands I have honored others and
With these hands I have dishonored others.

Father of love I want these hands to become
The hands of Jesus that they may love and serve
Others as His hands loved and served others.
Give to me Father the courage to say no, when
Tempted to use these hands to hurt or to offend
Another, and help me that my hands may
Never be an object of violence.

In the name of Your Son Jesus who suffered and
Died that I might live, I pray for forgiveness.
I am truly sorry for those times when I have
Inflicted physical or emotional pain on others,
With these hands, a gift of love from You.

I press my hands together now as a sign
Of my love for You.
In the name of Your beloved Son teach me
To use these hands,
Only, to glorify Your name and name of Jesus.

Father, let my hands be the hands of Jesus
To serve others from this moment forward.
In gratitude I offer back to You, Heavenly Father
Your gift of love, my hands.
