My baby boy came running
With tears upon his face
And holding out his finger,
Ran into my embrace
In his little baby gibberish
He tried to make it clear
That something out there hurt him
And he wanted his mommy near.

My child, I wish I could protect you
From every hurt and pain.
I can't always be with you
Though I love you, that is plain!
But I know Someone who is able,
He'll be Faithful and True!
Whatever pain you may go through
He will be here for you!

Sometimes I too go running
With tears upon my face
And holding out my broken heart,
Run to my Lord's embrace
In my little childlike whisper
I try to make it clear
That something out there hurt me
And I want my Father near!

He says, "My child, I will protect you
Through every hurt and pain.
I will always be with you
And I love you, just the same.
I'm the One who is Able.
I'll be Faithful and True.
Whatever pain you may go through
I will be here for you!"
