Parable of the Paint

Have you ever tried mixing oil and water-base paint. You can shake it until you are blue in the face and you still won’t do it.

The same principle is true of truth. You cannot mix half-truths to make whole truth. You can think of all sorts of things to believe in, but when it is compared to truth, it loses every time. For instance, the Israelites were supposed to be following God, but they kept chasing after idol worship. Their beliefs in idols had no basis in fact, because they were made of wood and stone. Many horrible acts were performed in the name of this idol worship.

The same thing happens with religion that we make up ourselves instead of from God. We cannot make up something in our minds and expect it to be truth, no matter how much we wish it. Maybe you have been hurt in the past or suffered in other ways, but that will not bring peace in your life by contriving what to believe in.

God has provided a way to know Him through His Son, Jesus. You can choose the way God has provided if you wish, but you cannot manufacture truth because you don’t like the way God has selected to bring you close to Him. My prayer is that you will choose life, God’s way.
