Why should we hear from God? What are the benefits of hearing from God?
To call us into our divine destiny like he did with Abraham Gen 12:1-3
God can call us into our destiny when we are open to His voice. Samuel hear d Him at an early age.
To prove or test us as He later did with Abraham when He told him to go and sacrifice Isaac.
If Abraham was not used to God’s voice he would have thought that voice came from the devil and would have been rebuking the devil for telling him to go and sacrifice a son, the only son the son he loved, the son he waited for 25 years. However because he knew the voice of God he knew that God wanted the best for him at the end of the day. Even if he took Isaac he would some how bring him back to life because He had promised that through His seed all the families of the earth would be blessed. And God is not a man that He should lie.

To affirm us or comfort us as He did to Jesus when He was baptised or Paul when he was shipwrecked or unsure as to where to go and minister. Jesus always said He did what he saw his father do, spoke the words of His Father. Without hearing from the Father constantly He would not have been in his perfect will.
When Paul was shipwrecked he heard from God and was comforted. Because of the comfort he received he was able to comfort the crew and other prisoners.

To confirm a divine assignment as it was with Peter when he was sent to the house of Cornelius to show him the way of salvation.
God can use us to lead people who are thirsty for the Gospel to salvation. This was what happened to Peter in Acts 10 as a result of Peter’s obedience the centurion was not only saved but all those who heard the message of salvation for the first time. were saved too.

Phillip was having a thriving ministry in Samaria, but the Holy Spirit stopped him and transported him via divine Airways to the desert where the Ethiopian Eunuch was reading the scripture and having problem of understanding it.
He was told to go and join the carriage of the Eunuch. Phillip asked him if understood what he was reading and he said ‘no’. Phillip then explained the way of salvation to him and he was later baptised. When that assignment was complete, he was whisked off again to continue his ministry.

Similarly Paul and Barnabas were commissioned as the Holy Spirit spoke or directed.
As they were worshipping and praying, the Holy Spirit spoke telling them what exactly to do. Act13:2

To correct or rebuke us as he did to David through Nathan the prophet
2 Sam12:1-7 God had a prophet who was bold to confront the king with his sin as commanded by the Lord. David was rebuked this brought about repentance and punishment. See Psalm 51

We need divine direction for wisdom to deal wisely in the affairs of life and get divine perspective of issues we face. This is especially important when we want to know what best to do when we have a number of attractive propositions.

We need to know that there is the will of God that is good, there is the will that is acceptable and there is a perfect will. And there is a permissive will. Deciphering between these options requires prayer and whole hearted seeking of the Lord.
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.Rom12:1-2 NKJV


Let us Pray:
May you be guided into your calling and to make that calling an election sure..
May you crave for the perfect will of God, not looking on the outward appearance like Lot but have divine insight and understanding. May the reality that we have the mind of Christ be your inheritance and experience in Jesus' Name.
