Sugar Fix

The idol of sugar
in a low, heavy voice
calls out "Who's your daddy?"
Reminding me of
our old arrangment.

That old fix
with it's misleading fine print
entangling me in a life
of low.

Yeah, you came through
with the rush,
but you hit me enough
that I became
your knumb fool.

I kept coming back
cuz I liked how you laughed
but it was only half happy
cuz you were really laughing at me.
It's only now
that I see.

You called yourself
the "real thing"
but you never gave me
a real ring,
just a lollipop
on a piece of plastic.

Since I've been off your
life support system
and I've lost all the
withdrawl symptoms.
I find I already have
a daddy who comforts
and strengthens me.

In His Spirit
I can get high.
So I'm saying
"Bye Bye."
We both now know
I can live without you
Sugar Daddy.
