In Perilous Times Men Will be Unthankful

II Timothy 3:1-5

The first thing that we should realize by now, is that God wants relationship with us, secondly we cannot be thankful without complete surrender, and thirdly without a Yes Lord in time with God, we cannot become thankful.

Perilous means full of risk, dangerous, hazardous, exposed to imminent risk of destruction, risky, unsafe, vulnerable, subseptible, exposed, or in jeopardy.

Unthankful means not expressing gratitude, ungrateful, unpleased, unappreciative, thankless, fruitless, vain, or futile.

As we study the word of God, we should apply both the spiritual and literal principles of interpretation. The spiritual includes prayer, cleansing, and an illumination of the Holy Spirit. The principle of literally understanding scripture is to interpret according to the mind of the author, it’s historical background, the context of the passage, and the basic rule of grammar.

Naturally you will not bless a child that will not say thank you. Spiritually they lack care for his spiritual state. They are selfish and we do not worry about whether God misses us or not, except when we are going through something and need him to work something out for us. We do not only show God that we are not thankful by not saying it, but when we do not pray, give him praise, or worship him. We are unthankful when we look more to tomorrow than today. We should be according to St. Matthew 6:33-34 thinking on today and be thankful for our daily bread.

Even in our inability to know him, he is still faithful to the unthankful and evil, because he supplies their need as he does those that call upon him. He rain on the unjust, as well as the just.

In the natural can you be thankful when you suffer for the gospel sake, be lied on, cast down, talked about, rejected, abused or despised? The spiritual man can because the more pressure applied to him, the more thanks is squeezed out of him. It is not in man’s wisdom, but God’s. He loves us and he will not condemn us, but he wants us to obey. Be thankful, then and only then can you receive God’s promises.
