Sleep Holy Child, while Your rest is undisturbed.
For You, as a babe, could not have understood,
All the sorrow and suffering mankind would bring. . .
To such a precious, tiny, newborn King.

Soft lullabies from Mary, gifts from the kings,
Heralded by angels, held aloft by shining wings.
Poor shepherds came, to gaze upon Your face. . .
Never knowing You would be rejected by so many of our race.

Sleep little King, for the time quickly flies---
Now You are a man, and God’s will says You must die.
At the season of Your birth, we rejoice that You came. . .
Because You died, and we believe---
LIFE CAN NEVER BE THE SAME!
