Tapping into the Key of our Faith

God has laid the importance of prayer on my heart. It is not something I doubt or feel questionable over. He has allowed me the confirmed knowledge that a relationship with Him is worth anything and everything I can put into it and more.

There is no such thing as "saying" our prayers. Prayer is a conversation. The more you pray, the more you realize it is a two way conversation. God speaks loud and clear in prayer. We just have to be tuned in.

I am too often frustrated with trite prayer requests such as asking God to "Be with us..." or to "guard, guide and direct us...". Why are we asking God to do things He has already promised in scripture He will do? He has been with us, is with us and will be with us, guiding, protecting and directing. Instead of constantly asking Him to do these things we should thank Him for doing these things.

Allowing yourself to speak honestly to God is challenging. The funny thing is I guess I thought that I could hide things from God if I hid them from myself. Digging deep into your heart and speaking frank with your maker brings humility. It's a cleansing experience. Forgiveness is amazing.

I am trying to teach my children to give God what is on their minds. My son has gone to God and asked Him to protect our house with angels many times. God works in his heart and gives him a sense of safety. Some may see this as sweet but I am thankful I now have an army of angels protecting us every night. How often are we, as adults, afraid and don't even go to God for help?

God is powerful. Prayer unleashes His great power. It holds the key to our faith. If we are faithful, we will be prayerful.
