IN SEARCH OF MY SWEET CHRISTMAS

Oh dear sweet Christmas
Where did you go?
Did you run away and hide from me?
I search for you daily
In all those shopping places
Looking at all their faces

They are just shoppers
CHRISTmas shoppers that is
Pulling and tugging all the gifts around
Crying children in grocery carts
Waiting to sit on Santas knee
Do they not see
That Christmas is not Santa
It is this Christ who lives in me

They say we cannot say “Merry Christmas”
We must say, “Happy Holidays”
They say that people are threatening to sue Wal-mart
For saying, “Merry Christmas
I just wonder if they know that isn’t very smart.

Taking Christ from Merry Christmas
Is like taking the trees from the earth
No new oxygen
And no new birth

Where did my Christ go? I can tell you
Absolutely nowhere
He is the same, yesterday, today and forever
And he is alive forevermore

He is the Merry Christmas of yesterday
The Merry Christmas of today
and the Merry Christmas of forever
and he is alive and well!

I must go home after a hard day in the deli
I must go home and find my Christ
He is only a whisper away at all times
My heart weeps as my car winds along the streets

Oh well, why wait till I get home?
I’ll roll down the windows
And let Jesus music fill the air
The wonderful Christ of all my prayer

Oh My Father God, In Jesus Name
I come to you in prayer
I’m here; this is me, Mary Alice Bowles
I am entering your throne room
The curtain parted and now I can be bold
I beseech thee Christ of my Christmas
Creator of the heavens and also the earth
I love you, honor you, and worship you
Oh King of Glory, King of who I am
King of all I’ll ever be
I ask you to let them see that you are
The Christ of this season
And the only reason for all their joy
is because of the birth of a baby boy
born in a manger on Christmas day.

Then your spirit filled me
from my head down to my toes
I let the hallelujahs roll
and now I know that I have found my
sweet Christmas.
