In 2 Chronicles, the Bible records the ordeal Jehoshaphat has to go through as a result of an incorrect decision to ally himself with the wicked king of Israel, Ahab (2 Chronicles 18-19:4).

Unlike the king of Judah, Jehoshaphat, the warriors in David's time chose diligently to leave Saul and seek alliance with David whom God has chosen (1 Chronicles 12). The Bible records:

Now these are the numbers of the divisions equipped for war, who came to David at Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of the LORD. (1 Chronicles 12:23 NAS)

All these, being men of war who could draw up in battle formation, came to Hebron with a perfect heart to make David king over all Israel; and all the rest also of Israel were of one mind to make David king. (1 Chronicles 12:38 NAS)

Like the warriors in David's time that made the wise decision to follow God, Christians today should also follow likewise and prosper. To follow otherwise in making unwise alliances with people who hate God will spell disaster.

Therefore, whether in business alliances or personal relationships, always remember never to be unequally yoked together with those who will lead you away from God (2 Corinthians 6:14).
