The Word for Writers
What do I hope to accomplish with this piece? Am I writing this in the flesh, or have I allowed the Spirit of God to lead me?
I demand answers to these questions before I complete each article or story. Knowing the answers help me reach God’s will for each work.
I can expect to complete the work if I’ve established it’s purpose. I can expect my words to be genuine once I know my audience. I can expect each sentence to accomplish what the Lord pleases if God has inspired me. I can write with expectation if Jesus Christ is the focal.
David said in Psalm 62:5, “My soul, thou wait only upon God; for my expectation is from him.”
David was a man with great expectations. He defeated the lion, the bear, the giant Goliath, and many other adversaries through his expectation in God’s anointing. We should have this same attitude in writing to God’s glory.
However, in this scripture I believe David was pressed by the enemy to act in haste. He had to instruct his soul, the innermost part of himself, to wait on God’s instruction. Haste will cause bad decisions that result in disastrous consequences. Writing in haste leads to writing in the flesh, and products of the flesh are enmity against God.
Father, help me leave flesh out of all my writing. Help me to be like David, who was not infallible, but a man that waited to hear your voice, and then walked in expectation.
