Larry Lilly's Letter Friday November 11, 2005

The first Veteran's Day I recall was not Veteran's Day, but Armistice Day and commemorated the veterans of the First World War on the date of Armistice ending the war to end all wars. I think I was in the 7th grade and had a little trouble in what Limbaugh calls 'as yet unformed oatmeal' I was using for a brain. After all these years the Great blonde assures me the oatmeal has set to modern concrete standards.

I am scheduled today to give the invocation at a function sponsored by a publisher in Indianapolis in honor of the veterans of all of our wars, each one waged in the hope of ending all wars. We water the soil of foreign lands with the blood of our youth in the hope of studying war no more. A vain hope it has proved to be.

Having presided over a number of funerals for the soldiers who didn't make it back, I approach the luncheon with fear and trembling as I hold the veterans in the highest esteem possible. I certainly believe were it not for their sacrifice of time, talent, treasure we Americans would be speaking German, Japanese, Korean or Chinese. We also would be living much lower lifestyles than even the peasants of the aforementioned civilizations. You must keep get your head out of the sand and admit that Western Civilization is of much finer cloth with at least a varnish of the nicer things of life.

Please understand I am not a war monger who goes around thanking the gods of war for such glory often brought upon our youth for some specious reason concocted by old men with pet peeves to settle.

I am unabashedly proud of the men and women who wear the uniform and march off to whatever war in obedience to orders, often clutching said orders to their breast and asking, "What in God's name are they thinking" yet taking leave of hearth and homeland to erect walls of flesh and blood to preserve our way of life. Yes, pinko, I do think our way is best, not perfect by any means, but still best and that by far.

I am a firm believer that our entrance into future wars must be decided by a much higher standard and that there must be a commitment to absolute victory and the imposition of our way of life on the vanquished enemy, with the assimilation of the vanquished into our way, including their casting aside of heathen ideals. Yes, you're right I do not respect their way, and even less when they take up arms against Christian Civilization.

Having stated the above, you certainly must comprehend the torment I suffer in offering a politically correct prayer, one that will placate the brainwashed throng, who while offering their lifeblood, are mentally brow beaten into accepting the genocidal ideology currently polluting Western thought. I of course will offer a prayer of thanks for the service of my brothers and sisters to the cause of freedom and a silent prayer for the time when we study war no more.

I will offer the above prayer in the sure knowledge that only the coming of Christ will bring the dawning of such a day. Until then, I do thank the Lord for our veterans.
