Communion

As I was taking communion,
the bread and wine,
as I grasping the texture
with the visual,
I was thinking of
the red soaked, doughy feeling.
The gruesomeness
of what it represented -
the blood of the hacked body.

But on the other hand,
it really tasted good.
It was sweet and soft
and made my mouth water.
I wanted more and more.

What a contrast,
the elements compared
to the reality,
but not really.

In place of abuse,
God gave us
his intoxicating love drink
and his comfort food.

With this view on communion,
I like how I will remember Him
and His exchange:
punishment for
relational bliss.

Amazing!
