What should she do about the gaping hole in her heart; the spot longing for tenderness, emotional intimacy, and connection? It cannot be filled with close seconds or good intentions. It waits and whispers, “I am lonely; I am incomplete without the piece of your heart that fits –right here.”
The empty spot knows all about empty dreams.
Fortunately, the rest of her heart seems to be compensating; growing stronger in God’s grace, in fact. While the hole remains the same size, it no longer paralyzes her heart. She reaches out to find meaningful involvement elsewhere. She knows what it means to live beyond the hole in her heart.

Dear Beth, Hello! I read this several times and then I saw MYSELF, growing in God's grace, and God is in my heart...yet there are some empty spots ...that I feel the pain but I give to Him. One spot is calling "longing" - and that is for my son, and my other spot keeps "yearning" at the empty spot in a certain person that I wish cared about MY LONGING SPOT. (This made sence to me, but maybe not to anyone else. Now I can't erase this.) :) But, God brings me flowers and love touches to fill in the cracks. Praise Jesus our Savior!!
