“The Greatest Gift”
By
Calvin J. Moss

Ephesians 2:8-9 says for by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God not of works lest any man should boast.

When we were children, many of us received lots of gifts. These gifts came in small or large bags or boxes of different shapes. Back then and even now as an adult, I believe that the best gifts came in the biggest package. Gifts are wonderful to gift and receive. They are an expression of love, happiness, appreciation etc. Many times people compete with loved ones, family and friends to see who can give the greatest gift in an effort to gain the most appreciation. I believe that the greatest gift that anyone can receive is the gift of salvation because salvation will last forever.

By scripture, we know that salvation is the gift of God to all mankind. No matter how many gifts we give each other, we cannot out give God. The Lord`s gift is eternal while man`s gift is temporal and have no life at all. Futhermore, the earth is the Lord`s and the fullness thereof.

James 1:17 says every good gift and perfect gift is from above and cometh down from the Father of lights with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. God does not give and taketh away. Flesh does that. God does not give you a gift only if you give him a gift. That is a human thing. The greatest gift is salvation and nothing on earth can be compared to it. Things are wonderful to have but salvation is priceless. Oh, when we think about the grace of God, our souls should say thank you Jesus. Whenever God gives something you know it is him because it is always something that you could not give yourself and do not deserve. Do I have a witness?

In closing, Romans 6:23 mentions… for the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Jesus Christ became a sweet smelling savior, a sacrifice for our sin. He is our peace with God and our greatest gift. Amen.

“The Greatest Gift” “I believe that the greatest gift that anyone can receive is the gift of salvation because salvation will last forever.” I love these so true lines. No better gift than the Love of Christ. Thank you Calvin for Giving.
