How beautiful is the rain!
After the filth and coldness,
In the wide and blazing street,
Lord lead me home
Oh beautiful rain!

The smash it gave me and the roofs,
As of a vagabond of hoofs
Oh it made my tears gush and fight back out
From my throat that want to spurt!
And there I stay along the road

The heaven cry and cry and cry
I don’t know when it will impede
It blew and blew, oh how rigid
And there in the mucky tide,
I stood as firm as the wind is

But whatever may be tide
I know that I am home abound
Oh Father as I struggle all along,
Help me be so strong as rain
‘Til I reach where I should be
